A survey by AnyDesk has suggested that working remotely or at least in a hybrid environment has become so popular that many employees would resign if it were no longer an option.
Philipp Weiser, chief executive at remote-working software vendor AnyDesk, said the company quizzed 800 workers across Germany and the USA in April — and 59% of respondents said they’d quit if employers took away the chance to work remotely.
“Remote and hybrid work is set to continue making a tremendous positive impact when it comes to productivity, flexibility and higher employee satisfaction,” Weiser said in the announcement.
Silke Hoersch, VP of marketing and business development at AnyDesk, said that women were likelier to say this.
“Everyone knows that remote and hybrid work is a must for many, but the fact that 68% of those who were likely to quit were women is truly astounding and sheds light on the value of delving into the details of remote work to ensure its sustainability,” Hoersch added.
Weiser noted that remote working also comes with security and compliance concerns. Over 35% of respondents said they have IT issues ‘somewhat often’; 29% reported a lack of clear compliance and security guidelines within their companies.
“Our research on the digital employee experience informs businesses by uncovering actionable insights directly from remote and hybrid workers themselves and provides suggestions,” said Hoersch.
The survey was conducted as more offices tell workers to return as the pandemic subsides. Covid-19 has been “an incubator” for remote and flexible working models, according to AnyDesk.
