Germany-based automotive manufacturer Continental says it fuelled its growth trajectory in part by keeping productivity software and documentation management costs down.
According to software vendor Nitro in the same announcement, the manufacturer’s scale-up over recent years has depended partly on the swap-out of PDF toolkit name brand Adobe in favour of the former’s PDF editing tools.
“Continental, a leading automotive manufacturer that employs over 200,000 workers globally massive global enterprise in the automotive sector, had a limited deployment of Adobe Acrobat, but was unable to standardise on the solution due to its high cost per license,” the vendor says.
“The majority of Continental’s users were left without the means to work with PDF documents in a meaningful, productive way.”
Nitro’s team worked in partnership with Continental to ensure the choice was correct, according to the manufacturer’s IT contract and license manager Tobias von der Heydt and team, which moved to Nitro PDF Pro in 2010.
“The Adobe tools are very expensive tools, with many overloaded features our users aren’t using,” the manufacturer’s team says in a quote supplied by Nitro.
After an initial test deployment, Continental steadily expanded the number of Nitro licenses year by year via a single enterprise key, according to Nitro.
“Ultimately, the company equipped over 12,000 global employees with Nitro’s document productivity tools in 2015,” the vendor says.
Nitro’s summer product update — available here — combines several changes, enhancements and integrations to help increase efficiency, security and visibility for business users.
New and existing users of the Nitro Productivity Platform will be able to transform documents into editable, shareable and digital signature enabled PDF documents with automated workflows and integrations to existing documentation offerings, including collaboration across Nitro PDF Pro, Nitro Sign, Nitro Analytics, Document Generation and Identity Services.
